Short description

We aim to understand the behaviour of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria during colonization and disease. By creating mutants of clinical isolates we investigate communication between pneumococci and other bacterial species as well as determining the importance of virulence factors during pneumococcal meningitis, in collaboration with the Neuroinfection Laboratory at IFIK. We also study antibiotic resistance in S. pneumoniae and also Neisseria gonorrhoeae where pharmacodynamic functions of different antibiotics are being evaluated.
